Paying Your Traffic Ticket

If you were issued a traffic ticket in Louisiana and are a Louisiana resident, you'll need to contact the specific court that is listed on your traffic ticket. The Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) can not accept traffic ticket payments, nor will they know the cost of your traffic ticket.
Tickets Issued to Visitors
If you were issued a traffic ticket in Louisiana, but are not a Louisiana resident, you'll need to contact the specific court that is listed on your traffic ticket. The OMV will not be able to give you any information about your traffic ticket.
Tickets Issued Out-of-state
Paying a ticket you get while driving through another state can sometimes be a hassle. Yet, the payment process won't differ that much from paying a ticket you receive in Louisiana.
In the event that you receive a ticket in another state, make sure to ask the officer for information on court appearances and payment procedures. You can also check the back of the citation or contact the magistrate court in the county where you received the ticket.
Traffic Schools
Whether or not you can satisfy a traffic ticket by attending traffic school is entirely up to the court―not the OMV.
A decision may be based on factors such as the number of traffic tickets you've been issued, the seriousness of the current traffic offense, and whether or not you've previously been given the option of attending traffic school.
Since Louisiana doesn't use their own driver point system, attending traffic school to lower points isn't an option.
